Dr Bon-Cheol Ku is a Principal Research Scientist at the Carbon Composite Materials Research Center, Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), and a Professor at Jeonbuk National University, Korea. He earned his BS in Chemistry from Sogang University and his MS in Chemistry from POSTECH, Korea, before receiving his PhD from the University of Massachusetts Lowell (USA). Prior to joining KIST, he gained industry experience as a Senior Research Engineer at SK Chemicals and conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Dr Ku has held leadership roles including Head of the Carbon Composite Materials Research Center at KIST and Vice President of The Polymer Society of Korea (KPS). Prof Asami Nakai is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Gifu University, where she also directs the Composites Research Center. She earned her BS and MEng from Kyoto Institute of Technology (KIT) and DEng from The University of Tokyo. Prior to joining Gifu University in 2012, she was Research Associate and Associate Professor at KIT. Prof Nakai is a respected advocate for integrating traditional Japanese textile technologies with advanced composite science to enable sustainable, high-performance materials with applications ranging from automotive and aerospace components to heat-resistant materials, with collaborators from universities and industries. Prof Nakai currently serves as Vice President of the Japan Society for Composite Materials. and Immediate Past Vice President of the Asian-Australasian Association for Composite Materials (AACM), and Editor of Polymer Composites.

Prof T E (Tong-Earn) Tay is Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, National University of Singapore (NUS). Hao Wang is a Distinguished Professor of Composite Materials at Swinburne University of Technology. He previously served Professor of Materials and Manufacturing at University of Southern Queensland. He was President of the Asian Association for Composite Materials, and as the conference chair organised ACCM-11 in Australia in 2018.
Professor Wang has nearly 40 years of research experience in materials, including carbon fibre composites, plastic recycling, and green concrete. He has published over 500 journal papers, with a Google Scholar h-index of 117 and more than 56,00 citations. He is a Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher.
Professor Wang is currently the Editor-in-Chief of Safety Science and Technology. Previously he served as Editor-in-Chief of Composites Part B, the top journal in composite materials research, where he increased the journal’s Impact Factor from 4.9 to 14.2.

Prof Tetsusei Kurashiki is a Professor in the Department of Management of Industry and Technology, Graduate School of Engineering, at The University of Osaka, Japan, where he also serves as Director of the Center of Future Innovation, Panasonic Science Research Alliance Laboratory, and ULVAC Joint Research Laboratory for Future Technology. He earned his BEng, MEng, and DEng degrees in Manufacturing Science from Osaka University. His academic career at Osaka University progressed from Research Associate to Associate Professor before his appointment as Professor. His research aims to contribute to the advancement of engineering through the creation of innovative technologies and the development of evaluation methodologies. Based on research fields in composite materials, reliability engineering, and engineering education, he promotes interdisciplinary and industry–academia collaborative research in numerical simulation, multiscale analysis, and functional design. He has contributed to national science policy as a Senior Science and Technology Policy Fellow at Japan's Cabinet Office (2022–2024) and as a Strategic Coordination Officer at METI (2014–2016), and held a Visiting Professorship at KU Leuven, Belgium (2011). A recognised leader in the composites community, he currently serves as a Council Member of the Asian-Australasian Association for Composite Materials, Vice President of The Textile Machinery Society of Japan, and previously chaired the Committee on Composite Materials of The Society of Materials Science, Japan and was Vice Chair of the Committee on Reliability Engineering. His contributions have been honoured with the MEXT Prize for Science and Technology (2026), the Engineering Education Award from the Japanese Society for Engineering Education (2025), and the Special Award of the 2nd Japan Open Innovation Prize (2020), among others.

Prof Dr-Ing Li-Hua Shao is currently a full Professor of Institute of Solid Mechanics, School of Aeronautic Science and Engineering, Beihang University, China. Professor Jonghwan Suhr received his Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, USA, in 2005. He served as an Assistant Professor at the University of Nevada, USA, from 2007 to 2010, and as an Assistant Professor at the University of Delaware, USA, from 2010 to 2013. Since 2013, he has been a Professor in the School of Mechanical Engineering at Sungkyunkwan University, South Korea. His research interests include carbon materials, composite materials, and their functional applications. To date, he has published more than 200 SCI papers in internationally renowned journals such as Science, Nature Materials, and Nature Nanotechnology, with an H-index of 44. He serves as a reviewer for several journals including Nature and Nature Nanotechnology, as the Editor-in-Chief of Advanced Composite Materials, and as an editorial board member for journals such as Composites Communications and Functional Composites and Structures. Furthermore, he has been actively contributing to the academic community, serving as the Vice President of the Korean Society for Composite Materials (KSCM) since 2026. He has received numerous honors, including the National Science Foundation (NSF) CAREER Award and the Academic Contribution Award from the Korean Society for Composite Materials (KSCM). Prof Qingbin Zheng is currently a tenured Associate Professor at the School of Science and Engineering (SSE), The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (CUHKSZ). Prof Zheng received his PhD degree from Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) in 2011. Prior to joining CUHKSZ in 2019, he held various academic positions worldwide, including Research Assistant Professor of the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at HKUST and Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellow at Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research, Dresden, Germany. Prof Zheng has received many awards including National High-Level Young Talent of China, Presidential Young Fellow of CUHKSZ, CUHKSZ-SSE Outstanding Faculty Research Award, Stanford's Top 2% Scientists, Research.com Best Materials Science Scientists, Junior Fellow of the HKUST Jockey Club Institute for Advanced Study, and Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship of Germany. I have been engaged in the development, manufacturing, and sales of apparel materials for many years. However, after our mother factory was completely destroyed by the major earthquake, I began to question the conventional apparel industry, which is characterized by mass production, mass consumption, and mass disposal, and is said to be the second most polluting industry in the world.
This experience led me to start working on the production of spun yarn using recycled carbon fiber and the development of primary structural materials.
Through this initiative, I aim to provide advanced materials for a wide range of fields, including aerospace, industrial materials, medical applications, and disaster prevention.

Dr Bowen Gong is a Specially Recruited Associate Research Professor under the Hundred Talent Plan of the ZJU-Global Innovation Center, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China. He is also a core member of the Zhejiang Provincial Key Laboratory of Advanced Composites and Structures. Dr Gong received his PhD degree and held a postdoctoral position in the School of Material Science and Engineering at Zhejiang University. His research focuses on advanced manufacturing of high-performance composites supported by the National Natural Science Foundation and Zhejiang Province Youth Talent Project. Prof Ariadne L Juwono is a Professor in Composite Materials in the Department of Physics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Indonesia. She earned her BS in Physics from Institut Teknologi Bandung, MEng in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of South Australia, and PhD in Materials Engineering from Monash University, Australia. With decades of academic and research experience, Prof Juwono’s work focuses on the development, characterisation, and optimisation of sustainable composite materials. Her research areas include natural fiber-reinforced polymers (utilising sisal, kenaf, abaca, and bamboo), thermal energy storage systems using phase change materials, and biomedical composites for bone-implant applications. She is a Council Member of the Asian-Australasian Association for Composite Materials.

Professor Sang Eui Lee is a professor in the department of mechanical engineering in Inha University in South Korea. He received his PhD degree in Aerospace Engineering from KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) in 2006. Before joining Inha University in 2018, he had almost-ten-year industrial experience as a senior researcher in the Material Research Institute in SAIT (Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology) (10.2008 – 02.2018). He was a postdoctoral research scholar in mechanical and aerospace engineering at UCLA (University of California at Los Angeles) (09.2006 – 08.2008). His research has been directed towards developing advanced and multifunctional composite materials and structures, and their systems for aerospace, mechanical, energy, and IT applications. To achieve this goal, he has been focusing on the relationship between materials, processing, and properties, and on structural design and optimization. Based on the understanding of the mechanics and transporting properties (electromagnetic, thermal) of these media with the material-processing-property relationship, his research aims at designing a new class of lightweight composite structures with tailored material properties and structural configuration. After being an editorial board member in KSCM (the Korean Society for Composite Materials) for six years, he has served as the chief director of international cooperation of KSCM since 2025.

"Transforming Polymers with 2D Materials for Multifunctional Nanocomposites"
Prof Jun Ma is a professor at Adelaide University and an expert in polymer nanocomposites. His research focuses on the development of applied functional (nano)composites through processing engineering materials with a range of cost-effective, safe nanomaterials, aiming to engage with industry in the design, development and manufacturing of advanced composite materials. To-date Prof Ma as the lead Chief Investigator has attained a research income of $2.6 million; his total research income is over ten million dollars. He has been awarded with four Australian Research Council (ARC) Discovery Projects and five ARC Linkage Projects. Prof Jun Ma was appointed to the ARC College of Experts in 2022–2025. He is the founding Editor-in-Chief for a journal Advanced Nanocomposites. He is also the Editor for Advanced Composites and Hybrid Materials.

Prof Yong Tae Park is currently a tenured Professor at the School of Mechanical Systems Engineering, Myongji University. He joined Myongji University as an assistant professor in March 2014, after his postdoctoral research for 2.5 years in Chemical Engineering and Materials Science at University of Minnesota (PI: Prof Christopher Macosko). He finished his PhD in Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University, with Materials Science emphasis (Advisor: Prof Jaime Grunlan). He also received BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering, with Applied Mechanics emphasis, from KAIST and POSTECH, respectively. He spent four years in failure analysis of memory packages and modules at SK Hynix Semiconductor Package R&D Center. Inderdeep Singh is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, Uttarakhand, India. He completed his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from NIT Hamirpur in the year 1998. He completed his Masters and Ph.D. degrees from Department of Mechanical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi in 2000 and 2004. He joined as Lecturer at the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, in the year 2005. His research interests focus on conceptualization and development of composite materials, natural fiber-based sustainable composites and machining/joining of polymer matrix composites. He is working on a number of sponsored and consultancy projects sponsored by Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Education, Indian Coffee Board, NBCC, Forest Research Institute, Government of India and State Government of Himachal Pradesh. He is a member of two International Consortiums (coordinated by South Korea and Malaysia) which are working towards the development of sustainable composite materials. He has supervised 25 PhD thesis and is currently supervising 14 PhD candidates at IIT Roorkee. He has published over 150 research papers in peer-reviewed international journals. He has been invited to deliver plenary/keynote/invited talks by various institutes of repute within India and abroad. He has developed six Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) under National Program on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) which are being offered regularly with an objective of online learning and certification. He has been awarded with the Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT) award for best industry relevant doctoral thesis of the year 2004-2005 by Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. He has been awarded with Outstanding Teacher Award for the year 2013 by Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee. Prof Qi WU was born in March 1986. He graduated from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in June 2009, and received his PhD from the University of Tokyo in September 2014. After working in Japan, the United Kingdom, and Australia, he has been a Professor at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics since August 2020. He has been selected for the Overseas High-Level Talents Youth Program, appointed as a Distinguished Professor of Jiangsu Province, and awarded the Jiangsu Provincial Outstanding Youth Science Foundation. In the past five years, he has led over 10 research projects, including the National Key R&D Program, two General Programs of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and a major project of the National High-End Aviation Equipment Technology Innovation Center. He has published 76 SCI-indexed academic papers, of which 58 are as first/corresponding author, and been granted 7 Chinese invention patents, 5 international patents, and 4 software copyrights.

Dr Shuying Wu is currently a Senior Lecturer and ARC Future Fellow in the School of Aerospace, Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering, The University of Sydney. Before joining AMME in 2023, she was a Senior Lecturer at School of Engineering, Macquarie University (Oct 2018-Aug 2023), ARC DECRA Fellow at School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, UNSW (May 2017-Sep 2018), Research Fellow at School of Engineering, RMIT University (Apr 2014-Apr 2017) and Deakin University (Sep 2013-Mar 2014). Dr Wu’s research focuses on understanding how the microstructure of polymer nanocomposites and polymer blends governs their mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical properties, and how these relationships can be exploited to enable advanced engineering applications. Her work centres on the design and development of functional polymer composites for diverse applications, including wearable electronics and lightweight aerospace structures.

Prof Weidong Yang is the Head of Aerospace Engineering Department, Tongji University. He received his BEng and MEng in Aerospace Engineering from Tongji University, followed by a PhD degree in Solid Mechanics from Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Then, he as Research Fellow worked at Department of Materials Science and Engineering, National University of Singapore. He is now working on polymeric composite materials and structures at the School of Aerospace Engineering and Applied Mechanics, Tongji University Shanghai, China. Prof Yang's research interests currently focus on composites mechanics, multifunctional composites, additive manufacturing, and Al-driven composites design and manufacturing. He has over 70 publications in the peer-reviewed journals with more than 2600 citations. He also serves as Assistant Editor of Composites Science and Technology, Young Editorial Board Member of Acta Mechanica Sinica, executive director of SAMPE China General Association, and member of the Youth Work Committee of China Composite Materials Society.
